Since moving to Scottsdale you might say I’ve gotten a taste for some pretty fine things…one of them being dinner with the family at the restaurant in the Andaz in Scottsdale’s restaurant, The Weft & Warp Art Bar & Kitchen. So much so that they all cooked up a perfect surprise birthday dinner there, complete with overnight stay at the Andaz Resort. Who ever thought turning 60 could be so much fun!

The surprise celebration started off early in the day when my daughter who lives in North Carolina came to Phoenix for business, which she typically does several times a year. But what really knocked me off my feet was that she had her husband and daughter secretly come along. I thought I was losing my mind when my granddaughter popped out from under a blanket when I went to my other daughter’s house for a get-together. I considered this to be the best birthday surprise ever, but there was much more to come.

Later that evening they cooked up this crazy scheme that an out of town friend wanted to meet Vic and I  and my brother and sister-in-law for drinks at Andaz. Why sure…I’d never pass up an opportunity like that. Well, you guessed it…we walked in and there were all sorts of people there yelling surprise. Friends…even family from California…talk about a shocker. But the best was yet to come. After dinner and cake my daughter passed out room keys to everyone. I mean, are you kidding me!!??

So there you have it — family, friends, food and celebration. What more could a young-at-heart lady ask for?
